Two Ex-Iowa Linemen Sign with Iowa Barnstormers

Iowa Barnstormers Head Coach and Director of Football Operations John Gregory announced Thursday morning that the team has reached agreement with OL Eric Rothwell and Pete Traynor. Both players are graduates of the University of Iowa. This brings the total number of players currently under contract for Iowa to 24.

Rothwell returns for a third season with the Barnstormers. He has started at center for 32 straight games leading back to 2008. The 6-4, 315lb was part of a unit that finished the 2009 regular season with 10 straight games without allowing a sack. The University of Iowa alumni started 12 of 13 games for the Hawkeyes in 2003.

Pete Traynor (6-4, 300) has experience playing arena football for both the Quad City SteamWheelers (2003-05) and with the New York Dragons (2007). Traynor also spent time with the Green Bay Packers of the NFL in 2006. He appeared in several games for the University of Iowa from 1999-2003 and was named to the all big-ten academic team in 2002.
