We Are Jumping the Gun: Splitting the Big Ten Into Two Divisions
The Big Ten, which has had 11 teams for almost two decades after Penn State joined in 1990, is looking at adding another team. Go here for the league’s statement. Here are some predictons on a new member.
Some quick thoughts:
- Will the league consider its mathematically-challenged name? However, Big 12, as you probably know, has been taken since the mid-90s when the Big Eight became the Big 12.
- What’s the point of another team? Just so you can have two six-team divisons and a conference championship game? You could have that now with one five-team and one six-team division.
We would suggest this set-up below. This kind of line-up should favor Iowa. This year’s football rank in the league is in parenthesis.
