An Eastern Iowa News reader snapped this picture with her cell phone this morning (Jan. 2, 2010) around 5:30ish. She said the Eastern Iowa Airport at the south edge of Cedar Rapids was busy and it appeared many were heading to Florida for the Iowa Hawkeyes’ appearance in the Jan. 5, 2010, Orange Bowl.

Three of five Cedar Rapids to Chicago O’Hare flights this afternoon have been cancelled, according to the Eastern Iowa Airport’s Website. (This includes flights between 2:52 and 9:35 p.m., as of 3:16 p.m.)

As of 3:33 p.m., the 5:45 p.m. Cedar Rapids arrival from Chicago has been cancelled.

The FAA is reporting the following for Chicago:
Due to WEATHER / THUNDERSTORMS, there is a Traffic Management Program in effect for traffic arriving Chicago OHare International Airport, Chicago, IL (ORD). This is causing some arriving flights to be delayed an average of 2 hours and 46 minutes.
